Ceres Assistant is now available for JetBrains IDEs. You can install it directly from the JetBrains Marketplace and bring focused AI assistance into your everyday development environment.
If you already use Ceres inside VS Code, you can now follow the same controlled workflow in JetBrains IDEs, with AI chat, voice input, file and selection context, project reading tools and support for your preferred AI provider.
AI assistance inside your JetBrains IDE
Ceres adds a dedicated AI sidebar to your IDE, so you can ask questions and work with project context without constantly switching to a browser or another application.
The assistant stays close to the project you are already working on. You can provide the relevant file, selected code, error or development context, ask a focused question and receive an answer based on the information you choose to include.
Ceres is designed for developers who want AI nearby without giving it uncontrolled access to the entire project.

The current Marketplace release supports JetBrains IDE versions 2025.3 and newer. Android Studio support starts with Panda 1, version 2025.3.1.
Add files and selected code to the conversation
You can send a complete file to Ceres from the project view or add only the code currently selected in the editor.
This gives you control over the information included in the conversation. Instead of sharing the entire project for a small question, you can provide only the function, class or file related to the task.
Use Ceres to understand unfamiliar code, investigate a possible bug, review an implementation, explain a function or ask focused questions about the project.
Active file and workspace context
Ceres can work with the file currently open in the editor and gather additional workspace context when it is needed.
Its Navigation Mode can search for relevant files and read the necessary parts of the workspace. These context tools are designed primarily for reading and understanding the project. They do not automatically modify files or execute changes.
You can also turn Navigation Mode off and work only with the exact files and code selections you add manually.
Read project information with focused tools
Ceres includes development tools that help the assistant read the information surrounding your current task.
Depending on the context you provide, Ceres can work with:
- Files and selected code
- The active editor file
- Workspace errors and diagnostics
- Terminal output
- Repository and project information
- URLs and documentation
- PDF files
- Images and other supported attachments
These tools are mainly used to gather and understand context. They help Ceres answer questions based on the real project without allowing it to take control of the development workflow.
Understand IDE problems and errors
Errors and diagnostics from the IDE can be added to Ceres together with the surrounding code.
This makes it easier to investigate compilation problems, warnings and broken behavior without manually copying every error message and searching for the related file.
Ceres can explain what the error means, identify likely causes and suggest what you should inspect next.
Use your voice while coding
Ceres includes voice input directly inside the JetBrains sidebar. You can dictate a prompt, describe a bug or explain a technical problem without typing the complete request.
Voice input is useful for longer instructions, debugging notes and follow-up questions that are easier to explain naturally.
You can speak your prompt, review the recognized text and send it when it is ready.
Apply and review AI suggestions with Ceres Pro
Ceres Pro adds tools for applying and reviewing AI suggestions inside the editor.
Instead of accepting a hidden change, you can inspect the proposed differences and decide whether the suggestion belongs in your project. The final decision remains with you.
Pro also includes editor buttons that let you save repeated prompts and run them on selected code, along with voice commands for describing changes naturally.

Connect your preferred AI provider
Ceres supports your own API key and compatible AI endpoint. You can choose the provider and model that fit your work, budget and privacy requirements.
Supported options include OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral, Mercury, OpenRouter, DeepSeek, Kimi and other services offering an OpenAI-compatible API.
You can also connect local models through Ollama or LM Studio. This gives you the choice between powerful hosted models, affordable APIs and models running on your own computer.
Ceres does not lock you into a single AI provider or bundled AI subscription.
A lighter alternative to autonomous coding agents
Many AI coding tools are designed to scan large parts of a project, run multiple tools and make changes automatically.
That approach can be useful for large autonomous tasks, but it can also consume more tokens, introduce unnecessary context and make the final result harder to follow.
Ceres follows a smaller and more predictable workflow. You provide the context, ask the question, review the answer and decide what happens next.
It is designed for focused coding questions, debugging, code explanations, project understanding and controlled suggestions inside the IDE you already use.
Install Ceres from the JetBrains Marketplace
You can install Ceres directly from your JetBrains IDE:
- Open the IDE settings.
- Select Plugins.
- Open the Marketplace tab.
- Search for Ceres AI Coding Assistant with Voice.
- Select Install.
- Restart the IDE if requested.

Ceres is now available across your workflow
Ceres started as a focused AI assistant for developers who wanted useful help without handing over their entire project.
It is now available for VS Code and JetBrains IDEs, while the separate Ceres Browser plugin brings writing, voice and page-aware AI tools into the browser.
